Essential Oils are basically plant extracts that retain the natural smell and flavor or “essence” of their source. These oils have numerous effects on the body.

Some essential oils are instant energy boosters such as Lavender, Lemon, Bergamot, ylang-ylang, Clary, Sage and Jasmine. These oils combat chronic fatigue and improve concentration. For sleep deprivation, there are Lavender, Vetiver, Roman Chamomile, ylang-ylang and Cedarwood oils that are effective, soothing and more potent to the mind.

Then there are essential oils that can improve cognitive functions. These oils include Basil and Cypress Pepper which helps restore both long and short-term memory. However, Rosemary oil is the #1 oil that improves cognitive functions.

If you suffer from chronic headaches, Peppermint, Rosemary, Lavender, Eucalyptus, and Chamomile oils are great pain relivers. Peppermint oil relaxes muscles and eases the pain. The other oils mentioned have natural analgesic or pain killing properties. Eucalyptus oil opens up nasal passages and releases any sinus tension.

Essential oils can also act as an antidepressant by lowering anxiety and stress. These oils include Bergamot, Frankincense, ylang-ylang, Lavender, and Roman Chamomile. Keeping your immune system enhanced is another advantage of using essential oils. They are natural immune enhancers by keeping the body healthy. Lemon, Oregano, Clove, Grapefruit, and Eucalyptus oils contain antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, and antioxidant properties.
